Meet Christine Medeiros, one of our Assistant Project Managers!
We’ve asked her some questions to help you get to know her a little better:
Why did you decide a career in the construction industry was for you?
I honestly never thought about a career in construction. I hated the job that I was at and someone recommended that I apply for a position as a receptionist for a new, up and coming construction company. Here I am 18 years later, doing something I can say I truly enjoy.
What were your biggest fears when you started out?
My fear has always been “I don’t know if I can do this.” You always hear about this industry being male dominated, so it’s easy to feel like you might not be able to keep up. That’s clearly not the case.
What’s your favorite thing about working for Haynes Group?
I’ve always said the people are what I like the most. I honestly haven’t worked for a company that I genuinely like everyone I work with.
What would be your advice for a woman looking to start her career in the construction industry?
Don’t listen to the stereotypes that men won’t respect you in this industry. I’ve found it’s the complete opposite. I’m given the same respect as my peers.
