6 Ways to Remain Healthy on the Job

Today is World Health Day and at Haynes Group, we believe in putting our people first and that means helping to create a safe and healthy environment for them to thrive in.

The days are often long and filled with deadline driven work, high stress, and physically demanding work leading to depression, fatigue, chronic pain, and the added mental toll that New England’s seasons take.

Here are some helpful ways to improve mental health on the jobsite:

  1. Connect with other teammates - relationships are even more important on days that may feel a little tougher.

  2. Take a 5 minute break outside on sunny days - New England winters are cloudy and dreary. Take a few minutes to enjoy the sunshine.

  3. Practice mindfulness - be present and try to find something to appreciate in every day.

Here are some helpful ways to improve physical health on the jobsite:

  1. Pack a healthy lunch - foods like fruit, whole grains, sandwiches and more help to boost energy.

  2. Stretch often - the job is physically demanding, taking a few minutes throughout the day to stretch will help minimize injuries

  3. Technology- Apple Watches, Fitbits, and other wearables are helpful to monitor important health activity levels such as heart rate, breathing, and some can even remind you to practice basic hygiene like washing your hands.
