According to Gettysburg.edu the average person will spend 90,000 hours at work over their lifetime. That’s a long time. Today we’re sharing some ways to refresh, inspire, and promote productivity in your offices.
Improve Lighting
Natural light is key, but if your space doesn’t have enough windows indirect lighting (lighting with a hidden source where the light spreads through the room via reflections) is the next best option. Keep in mind that warmer toned lighting is ideal in locations where employees are encouraged to relax and have fun. Ie. game rooms. Cooler toned lighting is ideal in locations where employees are expected to be productive and awake.
2. Paint
Research has proven that colors have a huge impact on our emotions. Some key colors to keep in mind:
Green: inspires creativity
Blue: Inspires productivity
Red: Great for detail orientation
Yellow: Inspires happiness and teamwork.
“Design creates culture. Culture shapes values. Values determine the future.”

3. Plants
Biophilic may not just be a positive healthcare design trend, it’s also proven to be an effective way to improve office space and productivity. Plants help to clean the air, reduce stress and anxiety, and can even aid in reducing noise.
HERE are some great low-maintenance plants.
4. Promote Movement
It’s 2021, we all know the dangers of sitting for 8+ hours a day. Promote movement through standing desks, lunch time running clubs, and walking meetings. Fresh air and movement encourages focus and clears the mind.
5. Re-arrange Spaces
Move furniture and seating, it gives people a new perspective and can generate new found creativity.
