Our friend and teammate, Christine Medeiros, is sharing what it’s like to be a woman in construction

What made you choose a career in construction?
I wouldn’t say I chose it. I was working for a waterproofing company, a co-worker of mine mentioned a new up-and-coming construction company that was looking for an administrative assistant. I went for an interview, got the job and here I am 20 years later doing something I can say I truly enjoy.

What’s your favorite part about working in this industry?
Everyday isn’t the same. The saying “you learn something new every day” holds very true in this industry.

What advice do you have for women trying to find their place in this industry?
Although it’s male-dominated, there’s a lot of room for women in this industry. Don’t give up, work hard and prove to them that their decision to make you part of their team was the right one.
